On Monday, October 28, 19 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5065 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country.
26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 wanted persons – foreigners were detained
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one Latvian citizen entered from Great Britain and another Latvian citizen leaving Latvia, who are wanted by the police, were detected. The persons were detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to six citizens of Romania, two – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Belarus, one - of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Turkey, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons - one citizen of Latvia, one – of Estonia and one – of Azerbaijan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, six – of Latvia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Norway, one – of Romania and one – of Tajikistan.
