On Sunday, October 29, 114 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12731 persons have been stopped during this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, one person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours.

A total 389 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On October 29, officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Moldova and one – of Great Britain, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to five citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. Three more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Turkey was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two persons - one citizen of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three - of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, two – of France, two – of Moldova, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Serbia.
