On Tuesday, October 29, 8 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5073 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of Tajikistan, one - of Kazakhstan, one - of Serbia and one – of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Great Britain, who was not in possession of valid travel document, as well as three citizens of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel documents were not valid for travel to Great Britain, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - three citizens of Estonia and one – of Ethiopia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Latvia, three – of Moldova, two – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
