On Monday, October 3, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 56 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
37 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- one foreigner with forged documents was detected
at “Pāternieki” border control point, one citizen of Uzbekistan who presented a forged driver’s license of Uzbekistan to the border guards was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, the forged documents were confiscated.
- one wanted person was detained
at the Airport “Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia entering the Republic of Latvia who is wanted by the police was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for 23 foreigners
at „Grebņeva”, „Vientuļi”, „Terehova” and „Silene” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. Additionally, 18 citizens of Russia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia for security reasons. All people were returned to their country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by five foreigners
at the Airport „Riga” border control point, three citizens of Uzbekistan and three citizens of Moldova who had violated the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa or a visa-free regime, no valid visas or residence permits) were detected. People were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by one person - a citizen of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - six citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Russia, two citizens of Moldova, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of the US, one citizen of Romania, and one citizen of Serbia.
