On Monday, October 30, 79 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12810 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 389 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On October 30, officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Two more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 17 persons – 12 citizens of Syria, three – of Lithuania, one – of Somalia and one – Sudan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, two - of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Serbia and one – of Tunis.
