On Wednesday, the 4th of October, the State Border Guard’s officials prevented 73 persons from the illegal crossing of the Latvian – Belarusian state border, in total 10555 persons have been prevented from the illegal border crossing during this year.

In the framework of the humanitarian reasons during last 24 hours, people were not prevented from crossing the border, therefore in total 354 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

48 offenders were detected at the external borders and within the country

34 border checks violators were detected at external borders including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

At the Vientuļi, Terehova and the ‘‘Riga’’ Airport Border Crossing Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russian and one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, one –of Ukraine, as the foreigner were not in possession of valid travel document and one –of Ukraine, because the foreigner were not able to justify the purpose of its entry and stay in the country. One citizen of Ukraine and one citizen of Russia were refused from the entry into the Republic of Latvia due to the security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of stay were violated by 11 foreigners

At the Pāternieki and the ‘‘Riga’’ Airport Border Crossing Points six citizens of Uzbekistan, two –of Ukraine, one –of Russia, one –of India and one –of America were detected for violating the conditions of stay in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Administrative liability was not initiated to the two citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of India, however, the rest persons were subjected to the administrative liability.

  • Exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia

At the ‘‘Riga’’ Airport Border Crossing Point two citizens of Latvia, leaving the country to London, were detected with not having valid travel documents to the United Kingdom. Persons were refused to exit from the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or stay conditions were detected for 3 people – one citizen of Latvia, one –of Russia, one –of Morocco.

In the field of the violations of exploitation of the vehicles and vessels 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of four citizens of Belarus, two –of Lithuania, two –of Kazakhstan, one –of Russia, one –of Moldova and one –of Germany.
