On Friday, October 4, 9 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4524 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 18 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 62 offenders at external borders and within the country.
26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva, the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points and the Port of Liepāja, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Uzbekistan, one of Armenia, one – of Ukraine, one – of Moldova and one – of Russia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa and residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Belarus, one – of Kazakhstan and one
– of Russia (seafarer) due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Moldova and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two minor citizens of Latvia leaving the country for Turkey, who did not have the notarised consent of the other parent for the child to leave the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 16 persons – nine citizens of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Belarus, one - of Lithuania, one – of Pakistan and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Italy, one - of Moldova and one – of Tajikistan.
