On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 56 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
35 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- one foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Airport “Riga” border control point, one citizen of Turkey who presented a forged ID card of Bulgaria to the border guards was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, the forged documents were confiscated.
- one wanted person was detained
at „Vientuļi” border control point, one citizen of Ukraine entering the Republic of Latvia who is wanted by the police was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for 15 foreigners
at „Vientuļi”, „Terehova”, „Silene”, „Pāternieki” and the Airport „Riga” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and two citizens of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, as well as three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay. Additionally, eight citizens of Russia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia for security reasons. People were returned to their country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by four foreigners
at „Grebņeva”, „Terehova” and the Airport „Riga” border control points, two citizens of Russia, one citizen of Moldova, and one citizen of Great Britain who had violated the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa or visa - free regime) were detected. The proceedings in the case of administrative violations of a citizen of Great Britain were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Latvia
at the Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing for London without a valid travel documents required for entering Great Britain, one citizen of Latvia departing for London without a valid travel document (the document is invalid due to change of surname), and one citizen of Latvia departing for Kutaisi without a valid travel document (the document has been reported as stolen or lost) were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by five people - one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Azerbaijan, one citizen of India, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - four citizens of Belarus, two citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Lithuania, two citizens of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Israel, one citizen of Moldova, one citizen of Romania, and one citizen of Tajikistan.
