On Saturday, October 5, 18 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4542 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 18 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country.
22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; while at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova and one – of Romania due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Kytgyzstan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Turkey, who did not have the notarised consent of the other parent for the child to leave the country, was detected; as well as one citizen of Latvia departing for United Kingdom, whose travel document was not valid for travel to United Kingdom, was detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 citizens of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Moldova, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Latvia, one – of France, one – of Italy, one – of Kazakhstan and one - of Germany.
