On Sunday, October 6, 35 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4577 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 18 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country.
21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; while at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Brazil, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
two citizens of Moldova, one – of South Africa and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa and residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – one citizen of Latvia, one – of France and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, three – of Latvia, two – of Tajikistan, two – of Uzbekistan, two – of Germany, one – of Russia, one - of Moldova and one - of Ukraine.
