On Monday, October 7, 37 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4614 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 18 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one - of Russia. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

two citizens of Georgia, one – of Belarus, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan, one- -of Cameroon and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa and residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Austria, one - of Moldova, one - of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
