On Saturday, October 8, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 39 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

17 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one wanted person was detained

at the Airport “Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia entering the Republic of Latvia who is wanted by the police was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for three foreigners

at “Vientuļi” and “Terehova” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova and one citizen of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. People were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by six foreigners

three citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Brazil, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, and one citizen of Great Britain were detected at the “Grebņeva”, “Terehova” and the Airport “Riga” border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa or visa - free regime, no valid visas or residence permits). The proceedings in the case of administrative violations of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia

at the Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing for London without a valid travel document (the document is invalid due to change of surname) and one citizen of Latvia departing for Manchester without a valid travel document (the document is reported as stolen or lost) were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.

 

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by three citizens of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - four citizens of Russia, four citizens of Kyrgyzstan, three citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Belarus, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizens of Bulgaria, and one citizen of Kazakhstan.
