On Sunday, the 8th of October, the State Border Guard’s officials prevented 45 persons from the illegal crossing of the Latvian – Belarusian state border, in total 10815 persons have been prevented from the illegal border crossing during this year.

In total 337 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

40 offenders were detected at the external borders and within the country

26 border checks violators were detected at external borders including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

At the Vientuļi, Grebņeva and Pāternieku Border Crossing Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document, two citizens of Moldova, because the foreigners were not able to justify the purpose of their entry and stay in the country. Six citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of Russia were refused from the entry into the Republic of Latvia due to the security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of stay were violated by 7 foreigners

At the Pāternieki, Vientuļu, Terehovas and the ‘‘Riga’’ Airport Border Crossing Points two citizens of Turkey, one –of Moldova, one –of Ukraine, one –of Russia and one citizen of Kazakhstan, were detected for violating the conditions of stay in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to the administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or stay conditions were detected for 9 persons – three citizens of Uzbekistan, three –of Latvia, one –of Estonia, one –of Ukraine and one –of Egypt.

In the field of the violations of exploitation of the vehicles and vessels 5 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 1 citizen of Belarus, 1 -of Kyrgyzstan, 1 -of Moldova, 1 –of Romania and 1 -of Serbia.
