On Tuesday, October 8, 43 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4657 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 3 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country.
22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; while at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

one citizen of Moldova was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Belarus, who was not in possession of valid travel document, and at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia departing for United Kingdom, whose travel documents are not valid for travel to United Kingdom, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of India, one – of Somalia, one – of Sri Lanka and one – of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Georgia, one – of Romania, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
