On Sunday, October 9, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 41 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
20 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for eight foreigners
at “Grebņeva”, “Silene”, “Pāternieki” and the Airport “Riga” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, and one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his/her travel and stay. Additionally, three citizens of Russia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia for security reasons. People were returned to their country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by four foreigners
two citizens of Moldova, one citizen of Ukraine and one citizen of Russia were detected at the „Grebņeva”, „Terehova” and the Airport „Riga” border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa). People are subjects of administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by two citizens of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - nine citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Ukraine, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Estonia, and one citizen of Poland.
