Over the weekend, border guards, while conducting immigration control, detected five persons, presented to border guards fake Covid-19 tests do not corresponding to the samples available to the State Border Guard.
On Friday, April 23, officials of the Zemgale Service of the Riga Board of the State Border Guard while performing immigration control on the highway A7 in Brunava Parish, Bauska Municipality stopped a Volkswagen car driven by a Ukrainian citizen. The man presented a Covid-19 test that did not correspond to the samples available to the State Border Guard.
On Saturday, April 24, officials of the Vidzeme Service of the Riga Board of the State Border Guard, while conducting immigration control on the highway A3 in Valka, detected an Estonian stateless person who presented to the border guards a Covid-19 test, which did not correspond to the samples available to the State Border Guard.
While on Sunday, April 25, officials of the Skulte Unit of the Riga Board of the State Border Guard, during immigration control on the highway A1, in Ainaži, stopped a Mercedes-Benz brand car in which detected three Ukrainian citizens. These persons also presented to the border guards Covid-19 tests, which did not correspond to the samples available to the State Border Guard.
Estonian stateless person and three Ukrainian citizens were fined, according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language, with 500 euros each, the fourth Ukrainian citizen - with 200 euros.
As well as at the beginning of last week, on April 20, border guards detected one citizen of Kosovo and one citizen of Ukraine with forged Covid-19 tests during immigration control on the highway A1 in Ainaži.
The citizen of Kosovo was fined, according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language, with 500 euros; administrative proceedings have been initiated against the Ukrainian citizen.
In total, the border guards have already detected 40 persons who presented fake Covid-19 tests do not corresponding to the samples available to the State Border Guard.
