Despite the fact that the border guarding authorities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus are actively taking measures to prevent illegal crossing of the state border and regularly report that attempts of the illegal crossings of the state border have been eliminated, the number of illegal border crossings detected by the State Border Guard has been increasing - several Vietnamese citizen groups and the second largest number of Iraqi citizens this year have been detained in the last weeks.
As it has been already reported, the risk of illegal migration is also the World Football Championship that is taking place in the Russian Federation by July 15th, and this risk will persist even after the end of the World Football Championship. In addition, the forecasts that this sport event may be used for illegal immigration to the countries of the European Union have been approved.
Namely, during the last month, the State Border Guard has detected and returned to Russia 15 third-country nationals (from Senegal, Morocco, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Bangladesh) who at the border checkpoints had used personalized World Cup visitors documents (FAN ID card) to enter the Russian Federation and afterwards, using fake Schengen visa or residence permits, had tried illegally enter the European Union.
It should be noted that similar cases have been detected by colleagues in Lithuania, Estonia and Finland, and that in total the illegal entry in the European Union of more than 150 third-country nationals has been prevented.
