On Saturday, September 7, as a result of successful cooperation between the State Border Guard, "airBaltic" and a German Liaison Officer in the United Arab Emirates, the illegal entry of two persons into Latvia from the United Arab Emirates using air traffic was prevented.

During the check of passenger lists and exchange of information with "airBaltic", State Border Guard officers detected two passengers on the Riga-Dubai flight who were planning to use travel documents of other persons for the flight. Upon checking the information, the border guards detected that the documents presented by the persons in Dubai - French and Dutch passports - were reported stolen/lost. The information was provided to "airBaltic" representatives, who decided to deny the passengers check-in.

After contacting the German Liaison Officer in the United Arab Emirates, it was found that the persons denied check-in at Dubai Airport for a flight to Riga are Afghan citizens. They were handed over to the United Arab Emirates Immigration Service.
