On Thursday, September 1, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 35 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

15 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • three foreigners with forged documents were detected

one citizen of Belarus, who presented a forged driver’s license of Belarus to the border guards, and one citizen of Moldova, who presented a forged vehicle registration certificate of Moldova, were detected at the “Terehova” border control point; meanwhile, at the “Ventspils” Board, during passenger profiling, one citizen of Uzbekistan, who presented a forged residence permit of the Republic of Italy to the border guards, was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, forged documents were confiscated.

  • one wanted person was detained

at the „Silene” border control point, one non-citizen of Latvia who entered the Republic of Latvia and is wanted by the police was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to five foreigners

at „Grebņeva” and Airport „Riga” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one citizen of Belarus, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; and one citizen of Azerbaijan, as foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his/her travel and stay. Persons were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by four foreigners

at „Vientuļi”, „Grebņeva” and Airport „Riga” border control points, two citizens of Russia, one citizen of Georgia and one citizen of Moldova, who had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or non-visa regime, not in possession of a valid visa or residence permit) were detected. Proceedings were not initiated in the case of an administrative violation of one citizen of Russia; other persons are subject to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia

at Airport “Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing to London without a valid travel document required by Great Britain was detected. Person was refused the right to leave the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by three persons - two citizen of Estonia and one citizen of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - six citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Russia, two citizens of Latvia, one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of Israel, one citizen of Moldova, one citizen of Ukraine, and one citizen of Vanuatu.
