On Friday, September 1, 34 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6869 persons have been stopped during this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, one person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 316 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 1, officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, one – of Georgia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Serbia, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Five more citizens of Russia and one of Ukraine - were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 13 foreigners

eight citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Ukraine, one – of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova, the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Russia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – three citizens of Estonia, two - of Lithuania and one – of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, one – of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Estonia, one - of Moldova and one – of Serbia.
