On Sunday, September 10, 256 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7856 persons have been stopped during this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, one person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 318 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 10, officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Vientuļi, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Armenia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to one citizen of Tajikistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia and two - of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Armenia was detected at the the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who was not in possession of at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the

country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 citizens of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, six – of Latvia, three – of Russia, two - of Moldova, one – of Estonia and one – of Ukraine.
