On Tuesday, September 10, 3 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4213 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, when profiling passengers one citizen of Syria entering from Greece, who presented to border guards a forged Czech ID card of another person, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents and for concealing one's identity.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia and one – of Turkey, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Russia and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Moldova was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons -  one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, six – of Latvia, three – of Moldova, two – of Azerbaijan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Georgia, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Germany.
