On Monday, September 12, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 42 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

20 trespassers were detected on external borders, including

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

at „Terehova” border control point, one citizen of Ukraine, who presented a forged driver’s license of Ukraine to border guards  was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents.

  • one wanted person was detained

at Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Sweden traveling to Tashkent, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for four foreigners

at Airport “Riga” border control point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Uzbekistan as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, and one citizen of Uzbekistan, as a foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his/her travel and stay. Persons were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by eight foreigners

at “Vientuļi”, “Terehova”, “Silene”, “Pāternieki” and Airport “Riga” border control points, three citizens of Ukraine, three citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, and one citizen of Tajikistan, who had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, no valid visa or residence permit) were detected. Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by three persons - one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of Moldova, and one citizen of Russia.  

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - six citizens of Russia, five citizens of Belarus, two citizens of Germany, one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Romania, one citizen of Serbia, and one citizen of the Czech Republic.
