On Wednesday, September 13, 139 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8168 persons have been stopped during this year.

In total 325 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 13, officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

34 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Vientuļi, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; to four citizens of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Four more citizens of Ukraine and one - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners

seven citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Belarus, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Georgia were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by two citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Azerbaijan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London, without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, and one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Antalya, who was not in possession of at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – three citizens of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Brazil, one – of Iran and one - of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Bulgaria and one – of Moldova.
