On Thursday, September 14, 124 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8292 persons have been stopped during this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, three persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 328 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 14, officials of the State Border Guard detected 64 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

36 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, one – of Algeria and one – of Kirgizstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Turkey, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Four more citizens of Ukraine and two - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Georgia was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 persons

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for Istanbul, who was not in possession of valid travel document (document reported stolen or lost), one citizen of Latvia departing for Dublin, who was not in possession of valid travel document (document invalid due to change of surname), as well as one non-citizen of Latvia departing for Kutaisi, who was not in possession of valid for travelling to Kutaisi document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – three citizens of Latvia, three – of Cameroon and one - of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Latvia, six - of Belarus, two – of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania, one – of France, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
