On Sunday, September 15, 5 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4307 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 51 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point one citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia with heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards forged Vehicle and Trailer Technical Inspection Certificates, was detected. While at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards a gorged residence permit, was detected. The persons were held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized within the framework of administrative procedures.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner  was not in possession of valid travel document; to three citizens of Moldova, two - of Serbia and one – of Armenia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay;  as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova, two – of Ukraine and one – of Georgia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Belarus and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Georgia, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two citizens of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 26 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, five – of Lithuania, three - of Moldova, two – of Georgia, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Israel, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Romania, one – of Ukraine and one – of China.
