On Monday, September 17, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 43 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

20 trespassers were detected on external borders, including

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

at „Grebņeva” border control point, one citizen of Armenia, who presented a forged drivers” license of Poland to the border guards, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, forged documents were confiscated.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for three foreigners

at „Terehova” and Airport „Riga” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, and one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his/her travel and stay. All persons were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by six foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Russia, and one citizen of the U.S. were detected at the "Pāternieki" and Airport "Riga" border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeding the period of stay specified in the visa, no valid visa or residence permit, no valid travel document). Proceedings in the cases of administrative violations of two citizens of Uzbekistan, and citizen of the U.S. were not initiated; the other persons were brought to administrative responsibility.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia

at the Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing to London without a valid travel document required to enter Great Britain was detected. Person was prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by four persons - two citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Russia, and one citizen of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - six citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Ukraine, three citizens of Lithuania, two citizens of Russia, one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of the U.S., and one citizen of Moldova.
