On Saturday, September 2, 42 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6911 persons have been stopped during this year.

In total 316 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 2, officials of the State Border Guard detected 56 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to one citizen of India, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Five more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, leaving the country, who was not in possession of a valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – three citizens of Estonia, three – of Moldova, one – of Latvia and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, four – of Latvia, four - of Moldova, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania, one – of Belgium, one – of Serbia, one – of Germany and one – of Kazakhstan.
