On Monday, September 2, 41 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4146 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 60 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

35 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 18 foreigners

at the Terehova, the „Riga” Airport, the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Ukraine, two – of Russia and one - of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of  the Schengen area countries); as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Ukraine, three – of Russia and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners

two citizen of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Belarus, one – of China, one – of Moldova, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of  Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons -  one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Germany.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, one - of Latvia, one – of France, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Norway, one – of Romania, one – of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
