On Monday, September 26, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 52 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

22 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

at “Grebņeva” border control point, one citizen of Ukraine who presented a forged driver’s license to the border guards was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, forged documents were confiscated.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for one foreigner

at the Airport „Riga” border control point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his/her travel and stay. A person was returned to his/her country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by eight foreigners

at „Vientuļi”, „Grebņeva”, „Pāternieki”, „Silene” and Airport „Riga” border control points, three citizens of Russia, two citizens of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Ukraine, one citizen of Uzbekistan, and one citizen of Nigeria who had violated the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa, no valid visas or residence permits) were detected. The proceedings in the case of administrative violations of two citizens of Russia were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia

at the Airport „Riga” border control point, two citizens of Latvia departing to Dublin without valid travel documents (documents were invalid due to the change of surnames) were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by four people - three citizens of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 25 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - eight citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Estonia, three citizens of Russia, three citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Lithuania, two citizens of Moldova, one citizen of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Ukraine, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.
