On Friday, September 27, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4498 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 18 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and three – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, one - of Serbia, one – of Belarus and one – of Germany due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

one citizen of Belarus, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Georgia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of India were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of India was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Cyprus was detected, who is subject to a security measure - a ban on departing from the state; as well as one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose identity document is not valid for travel to the Great Britain, was detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – one citizen of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Turkey and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Latvia, two – of France, one – of Serbia, one – of Germany and one – of China.
