On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 79 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
52 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- four foreigners with forged documents were detected
at the “Viļaka” Service, during the document check, three citizens of Georgia and one citizen of Georgia who presented forged residence permits of Czech Republic were detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, the forged documents were confiscated.
- one wanted person was detained
at the Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia entering from Rijeka, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for 32 foreigners
at “Grebņeva”, “Vientuļi”, “Silene” and “Pāternieki” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to nine citizens of Moldova and seven citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, as well as one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his/her travel and stay. Additionally, 15 citizens of Russia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. All people were returned to their country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by 10 foreigners
at “Grebņeva”, “Terehova”, “Pāternieki” and the Airport “Riga” border control points, four citizens of Ukraine, three citizens of Philippines, one citizen of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Belarus, and one citizen of Great Britain (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, no valid visas or residence permits) were detected. The proceedings in the cases of administrative violations of citizen of Philippines and citizen of Great Britain were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia
at the Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing to London without a valid travel document required for entering Great Britain was detected. The person was prohibited from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by 10 people - two citizens of Estonia, two citizens of Lithuania, two citizens of Turkey, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of India, one citizen of Iraq, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - four citizens of Ukraine, three citizens of Belarus, one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of France, one citizen of Israel, one citizen of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Moldova, and one citizen of Finland.
