On Sunday, September 3, 53 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6964 persons have been stopped during this year.

In total 316 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 3, officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted persons was detained

At the „Riga” Airport one citizen of Latvia entered the country from Edinburg, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one - of Iran, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to two citizens of Moldova and two – of Armenia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia and one - of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Russia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Georgia were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Tajikistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, leaving the country, who was not in possession of a valid travel document (document registered as stolen or lost), was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 11 citizens of Belarus, five – of Latvia, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Moldova,

one – of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Uzbekistan.
