On Tuesday, September 3, 6 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4152 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained

At the Port of Ventspils, during a check of the passenger lists, one Latvian citizen entered from Sweden who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; while at the Terehova, the „Riga” Airport and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Ukraine and one – of Kenia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan, one – of Mongolia and one – of Turkey were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Great Britain, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  one citizen of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of estonia and one – of Mali.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Romania, one – of Spain, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Turkey, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
