On Wednesday, September 4, 5 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4157 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

While profiling passengers at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of India leaving the country, who presented to border guards an identity document of another person with a false French visa, was detected.

Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged document and for concealing one's identity.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, two – of Russia and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

five citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Georgia and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  two citizens of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one - of Uzbekistan and one – of Vietnam.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, three – of Lithuania, one – of Latvia and one – of Moldova.
