On Tuesday, September 5, 63 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7065 persons have been stopped during this year.

In total 317 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 5, officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Six more citizens of Ukraine, two – of Russia, one – of Serbia and one – of Bosnia and Herzegovina were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - three citizens of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Azerbaijan, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Nigeria, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
