On Thursday, September 5, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4157 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Russia leaving Latvia with a car, who presented to border guards forged Bulgarian driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Turkey, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); while at the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Azerbaijan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1non-citizen of Latvia

at the Terehova Border Control Point, one non-citizen of Latvia departing for Russia, who has a ban on departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Estonia and one – of Iraq.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, two – of Azerbaijan, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Moldova,

one – of Tajikistan and one – of Germany.
