On Wednesday, September 6, 146 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7211 persons have been stopped during this year.

In total 317 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 6, officials of the State Border Guard detected 58 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Pededze, the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to one citizen of Azerbaijan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Four more citizens of Russia and three - of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Ukraine, one – Russia and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Pāternieki, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Ukraine, was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 18 persons – 13 citizens of Latvia, three – of Uzbekistan, one - of Russia and one – of Ireland.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, three – of Uzbekistan, two - of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Georgia and one – of Poland.
