On Thursday, September 7, 173 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7384 persons have been stopped during this year.

In total 317 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 7, officials of the State Border Guard detected 49 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Georgia and one - of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. Three more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kirgizstan was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Kutaisi, who was not in possession of at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - two citizens of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania and one - of Angola.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 11 citizens of Belarus, five – of Russia, three – of Moldova, one – of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Montenegro, one – of Romania and one – of Ukraine.
