On Saturday, September 7, 27 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4190 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country.
21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 3 foreigners with forged documents or with documents of another person were detected
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia with heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan Technical Inspection Certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized within the framework of administrative procedures. While at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during the immigration control, one Indian citizen who presented to border guards a passport of another Indian citizen, as well as one Bangladeshi citizen who presented to border guards a passport of another Bangladeshi citizen, were detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one's identity. The persons were placed at a temporary place of detention of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners have already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days. While at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Georgia and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners have a Schengen entry ban (they are not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and one - of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Belarus and one – of Georgia were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Ireland, and two citizens of Latvia departing for Armenia, who were not in possession of valid travel documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 13 persons - six citizens of Lithuania, five – of Ukraine and two – of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, three – of Lithuania, three – of Azerbaijan, three – of Moldova, two – of Russia, two - of Belarus, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Switzerland.
