On Sunday, September 8, 7 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4197 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with documents of another person was detected

at the the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, carrying out immigration control, one citizen of India, who presented to border guards a passport of another citizen of India, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one's identity.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ecuador, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Russia and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay, as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Moldova and one – of Serbia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons -  four citizens of Estonia, one - of India and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five – of Moldova, three – of Kazakhstan, two – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Estonia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Saudi Arabia, one – of Hungary and one – of Uzbekistan.
