On Saturday, September 9, 101 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7600 persons have been stopped during this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, one person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 318 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On September 9, officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belgium, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Kazakhstan and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free-regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London, without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - three citizens of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Kazakhstan, two - of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
