On Monday, September 9, 13 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4210 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, one – of Moldova, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan, one – of Belarus, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Russia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia departing for Turkey, whose travel documents are not valid for departure to Turkey, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  two citizens of Ukraine and two – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Romania, one – of Spain and one – of Germany.
