From 22 to 27 July the Chief of the State Border Guard General Normunds Garbars will visit Kazakhstan, where the 3rd Regional Cooperation Conference on Border Security in Central Asia "Issyk-Kul Initiative 2018" will take place.
The conference will be attended by representatives of BOMCA 9 (Border Management in Central Asia) target countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan - border management agencies, BOMNAF (Border Management in Northern Afghanistan), Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, FRONTEX (European Border and Coast Guard Agency), as well as Senior Officials of the Coordination Office of the Council of Border Guard Forces of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). At the same time, the European Union delegations in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and the Latvian Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan will be represented at the forum.
The conference is organized by the BOMCA 9 Project Consortium, in which the State Border Guard is the leading partner, in cooperation with the Border Guard Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and BOMNAF, and aims to promote closer cooperation between border guard institutions in the Central Asian region.
During the visit, the Chief of the State Border Guard will meet senior officials of the above mentioned border management agencies and visit the Centre of Cynology and the Border Guard Service Academy of Kazakhstan.
