The State Border Guard informs that based on Section 18(5)2) of the Law on the State Border of the Republic of Latvia, the request for and issuance of special passes for staying in the borderland have been suspended for the time of the emergency situation in the border area of Latvia-Belarus.
As well as the State Border Guard invites those residents to whom special passes have been issued, without justified reason, not to stay in the border area of Latvia-Belarus as long as the state of emergency is announced.
We remind You that in accordance with the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers, a borderland no more than 2 kilometres wide has been determined along the external land border of the Republic of Latvia. In order to stay in the borderland along the state border of the Republic of Latvia with the Russian Federation and with Belarus, persons from the age of 15 need a special pass issued by the State Border Guard.
It has already been reported that from 11 August, 2021 to 10 November, 2021 in the municipalities of Ludza, Kraslava and Augšdaugava, as well as Daugavpils the state of emergency has been declared.
