The State Border Guard’s experts and technical equipment are actively involved in 2024 joint operations coordinated by Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency in order to strengthen the security of the external borders of the European Union and efficient migration management.

Since 24th January, 2024, 264 experts of the State Border Guard,  as an individual experts (e.g. Debriefing and Screening experts, Fingerprinting and registration experts, Border surveillance experts, First and Second line experts, Advanced level document officers, Information officer), from them 7 dog handlers with service dogs, and as technical equipment crew members were deployed and provided support at the EU external borders in joint operations coordinated by Frontex in Greece, Italy, Spain, Estonia, Lithuania, Romania and in third countries - Montenegro, Serbia and Albania.

In total, since 24th January, 2024, the State Border Guard deployed 5 technical assets: airplane, helicopter, coastal patrol boat and 2 mobile surveillance systems.

At the same time, the State Border Guard in cooperation with Frontex coordinates the deployment of Standing Corps experts in Latvia. In total, 112 experts from the Standing Corps of the Frontex from various Member States of the European Union were deployed to the State Border Guard’s border check and border surveillance units during the abovementioned period, which provides significant support to the State Border Guard in ensuring border control measures and strengthening the external border of the European Union.

On 10th July, regular rotation of experts was carried out within the 7th deployment period, during which the State Border Guard will continue to provide support by strengthening border control and management of migration flows, ensuring participation of both border guards and technical equipment, as well as hosting Frontex Standing Corps experts in Latvia.
