On Friday, February 14, border guards of the Ventspils Board of the State Border Guard detected a bag containing a white powdery substance in a vehicle in the South Kurzeme Region.

While conducting immigration control on the A11 road, in Rucava Parish, South Kurzeme Region, officials of the Kurzeme Service of the Ventspils Board of the State Border Guard stopped a Renault Megane car. During the interview of the driver and passenger of the car, the border guards decided to direct the car for thorough check. During the check, a service dog of the State Border Guard indicated the possible presence of narcotic substances on the passenger. During check on the person – a Lithuanian citizen – the border guards found a plastic bag with a white powdery substance, which the person claimed to be cocaine for personal use. The person and the seized substance were handed over to the State Police officials for further procedural actions.
