On Tuesday, March 11, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 230 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 47 offenders at external borders and within the country. 18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as to five citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova and two – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kyrgyzstan was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia travelling to the Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to the Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – five citizens of Russia, three – of Ukraine and one – of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Moldova, four - of Belarus, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Serbia.
