On Friday, August 2, the officials of the State Border Guard prevented 36 people from illegally crossing the Latvia – Belarus border. In total 3672 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the border this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 people were not prevented from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total of 12 people have been admitted this year for humanitarian reasons.

51 offenders were found on the external borders and inside the country. 20 border violators were found on the external borders, including:

• Entry into Latvia was denied to six foreigners

One Moldovan citizen was denied entry into Latvia at the Terehova border control point, because the foreigner is prohibited from entering and residing in the territory of the Schengen area countries, one Russian citizen was denied entry into Latvia at the Grebnev border control point, because the foreigner did not have a valid visa and residence permit, as well as one British citizen, because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document, while one Tajik and one Indian citizen was denied entry into Latvia at the Riga airport border control point because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, as well as one Ukrainian and one Russian citizen due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

• Four foreigners were found to have violated the conditions of residence

One citizen of Tajikistan, one citizen of Georgia, one citizen of Moldova and one citizen of Russia who had violated the conditions of residence (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the period of residence specified in the visa) in the countries of the Schengen area were detected at the border control point of Terehova, Pāternieki and Riga airport. Proceedings in the administrative violation case of one citizen of Tajikistan were not initiated, the other persons were brought to administrative responsibility.

• One Latvian citizen is prohibited from leaving the country

At the border control point of Riga Airport, one minor Latvian citizen traveling to Turkey was found, who did not have a valid travel document. The person is prohibited from leaving the country.

During the implementation of immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were found for 13 persons - four citizens of Lithuania, two of Estonia, two of Turkey, one of Russia, one of Belarus, one of Azerbaijan, one of India and one of Ukraine.

Officials of the State Border Guard have called 18 persons to administrative responsibility or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicles and navigation equipment - eight citizens of Belarus, four Moldovans, two Latvians, one Lithuanian, one Armenian, one Italian and one Uzbek citizen.
