On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country.
18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented forged Ukrainian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.
- 1 wanted person was detained
At the Terehova Border Control Point one citizen of Moldova entered Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Tajikistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Ukraine was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for London, without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of India and one citizen of Tajikistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, two – of Estonia, one - of Russia, one - of Belarus, one – of Moldova and one - of Ukraine.
